External services
The free plugin makes no external calls. QR codes, pages and exports are made on your site. In Pro, only the EU Registry connection calls an external service, and only after you turn it on and enter an API address and key. It sends the passport ID and address, GTIN, SKU, product name, template, the economic operator’s name, address and email, and serial or batch numbers of unit passports.
FAQ
Which products need a passport, and when? Batteries first: LMT, EV and industrial batteries above 2 kWh from 18 February 2027. Other groups follow as delegated acts under ESPR are adopted. Check the rules for your product group.
Will printed QR codes keep working? Yes. The passport ID never changes and the page stays live after the product is deleted. Only changing the passport address setting breaks printed codes.
I am a retailer, not the manufacturer. Link to the manufacturer’s passport, or build your own with the default manufacturer setting for imported goods. With Pro, ask the supplier for the data they know.
Can customers see drafts or restricted data? No. Drafts are visible to shop managers only, and restricted fields need an access key.
What happens to my data if I remove the plugin? Passports are kept unless you turn on Remove data on uninstall (free) or Remove Pro data on uninstall (Pro) before deleting the plugin.
