Docs Peppol and XRechnung E-Invoices

Formats, trigger and numbering

Format

Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 is read across Europe and beyond, by Peppol access points and most accounting software. XRechnung 3.0 is the German standard, required by German public bodies and expected by many German businesses. Both are written in UBL 2.1.

When invoices are made

  • Create when the order is: Processing (paid) or Completed.
  • Create for: orders with a VAT number or Peppol ID (default), orders with a company name too, or all orders.
  • Only for billing countries: leave empty for every country.
Peppol cannot address a buyer without a Peppol ID or VAT number, so with Peppol those orders are skipped on their own. XRechnung can use the buyer email instead.

Numbering

Numbers use a prefix and suffix with the tokens {year}, {y} and {month}, a fixed length and an optional yearly reset. Credit notes have their own series. The next number is shown above the fields. Numbers come from a counter in the database that two orders can never share, and a number is only used after the check passes.

If you already use a PDF invoices plugin, turn on Use the PDF invoice number so the PDF and the XML carry the same number.
