Overview

Why stores use it

Some parcels go missing or arrive broken. The shopper emails support, you pay for a refund or a second shipment, and an unhappy customer may leave a bad review or file a chargeback. Package Protection gives that moment a clear process, and lets you keep any fee you charge for it.

This plugin is a store promise. It is not insurance, it sells no insurance, and it takes no part in any insurance contract. You make the promise and you pay for what it promises. There is no outside service, no revenue share and no account to create.

Without the pluginParcel lost

  • Lost parcels mean refunds from your margin
  • Claims scattered across email threads
  • Pre-ticked checkout fees break the rules

With Package Protection and Delivery GuaranteeClaim settled

  • Your own guarantee, always opt in at checkout
  • Lost and damaged claims inside WooCommerce
  • Refund or reship with one decision

A clear promise makes shoppers more confident. The guarantee is yours, not an insurance policy.

Is this insurance?

No. It is your store's own promise to make things right. The plugin does not sell, arrange or give advice on insurance. If you want real insurance for parcels, talk to a licensed provider.

Is it legal to charge for this where I sell?

That depends on where you and your customers are. Some US regulators have warned that paid package protection can count as unlicensed insurance. In the EU and the UK the seller already carries the transit risk until delivery, and a pre-ticked box is not consent. Free mode avoids most of this. Please ask a lawyer. We give no legal advice.

Can I pre-tick the box to raise the opt in rate?

No. Pre-ticked boxes are banned for extra payments in the EU and the UK and are the subject of class actions in the US, so the plugin has no such option, and its filters can not turn it on either.

Who pays when a claim is approved?

You do, as the seller. The fees you collect are meant to help with that, and the summary card shows how fees and claims compare.

How does the claim window start without a delivery date?

WooCommerce has no delivery date, so by default the window starts when the order is marked Completed. You can start it when the order is placed instead.

Can guests make a claim?

Yes. Their order email holds a signed link that opens the form without a login.

Does it work with the Checkout block?

Yes. The box sits in the order summary of the Cart and Checkout blocks and updates the totals right away. Classic pages let you pick the position.
