Why stores use it
Nobody spends hundreds on fabric, flooring, wallpaper, paint, perfume or tea they cannot touch, smell or see in their own light. A sample turns that doubt into a sale, and it costs far less than a return.
WooCommerce has no sample option, so stores usually create a second “sample” product for every item. That doubles the catalogue, mixes up stock and hides which samples turned into orders. Product Samples adds an Order a sample button to your real products instead. The sample is the same product with a Sample flag on the cart line.

A developer replies, not a bot.
Do I need to create sample products?
No. The sample is the real product with a Sample flag on the cart line, so stock, reports and the catalogue stay clean.
How do I charge less shipping for samples?
Create a shipping class such as Samples under WooCommerce, Settings, Shipping, Classes, choose it as the shipping class for samples in the plugin settings, then give it a low or free rate in each shipping zone.
Do samples reduce my product stock?
No. Samples never take from the full product stock. Turn on Count sample stock if you want to limit how many samples of a product can go out.
Can a customer order the same free sample again and again?
Set the per customer limit, for example 5 samples in 30 days. Customers are matched by account and billing email.
Does it work with the Checkout block?
Yes. Sample lines, labels, prices and limits work in the Cart and Checkout blocks and the classic cart and checkout.
