WooCommerce keeps one stock number per product. If you sell from two shops, a warehouse and a third party warehouse, you end up guessing where an item is, keeping side spreadsheets and phoning colleagues to check a shelf.
This plugin gives each location its own number and sends each order to one location. Everything else in your store keeps working, because the WooCommerce stock number stays there and is always the sum of your active locations. Themes, feeds, reports and other plugins read the same field as before.

Questions
A developer replies, not a bot.
No. On first run each stock managed product gets a row in a default location with its current quantity, so the total stays the same.
Its units stop counting in the WooCommerce total, because they are not for sale, and shoppers no longer see it. Turn it on again and the units count again.
You choose. Either allow it, and the default location goes short so staff can sort it out, or block checkout with a message. With Pro, an order can also be spread across locations.
Yes, on purpose, when you allow the order or the product allows backorders. A negative number shows what that location still owes. The WooCommerce total stays correct, since it is the sum.
Yes. They read the normal WooCommerce stock number. When they write it through WooCommerce, the difference goes to your default location and is logged.
Yes. Allocation happens on the server, so nothing changes for shoppers in the free version. The block setting that stops an order no location can fill also works in the Cart and Checkout blocks.
