Why stores use it
Stores that sell gift boxes, snack boxes, beauty sets or mixed cases need the shopper to choose what goes inside. WooCommerce can not do that alone, so store owners end up making dozens of fixed bundles or taking choices through order notes.
Build Your Own Box adds a new product type. The shopper opens the box, fills its slots with items from your catalogue, watches a progress bar and a picture of the box fill up, and adds it to the cart when it meets your rules. The box stays one tidy line in the cart, at checkout, on the order and in every email, while stock and tax keep working per item.

A developer replies, not a bot.
How does stock work?
Each chosen item is its own order line behind the box line, so WooCommerce reduces stock per item, sends its normal low stock emails and restores stock when an order is cancelled. The box product can also have stock of its own, for example the packaging.
What does the shopper see in the cart?
One line for the box with its contents listed below it. Changing the box quantity changes all its items. Removing the box removes its items.
What happens when an item sells out while a box is in the cart?
The cart and checkout show a message that names the item and stop the order until the box is removed or the stock is back.
Which products can go in a box?
Published simple products and variations that can be bought. Grouped and external products, other boxes, and products set to Sold individually are left out. A variation with an attribute set to Any is left out too, because the box needs an exact variation, so create one variation per option.
How many items can a pool hold?
Category and tag pools are limited to 500 products. The wfbb_pool_limit filter changes that. Show more loads further items in steps, and the number per step is in the settings.
Do discounts work with coupons?
Yes. Coupons apply to the box line and the item lines the normal way. In a fixed price box the item lines cost nothing, so a coupon applies to the box price.
Can a box be sorted by price in the shop?
A fixed price box and a base price box sort by their own price. A sum of items box has no price of its own, so the price sorting and the price filter of WooCommerce do not see it, although it shows a From price.
Is there a Pro version?
Yes. Pro adds several box sizes, discount tiers, sections and steps, prefilled boxes, gift messages and wrap, subscriptions, edit from the cart, free gifts, extra layouts, packaging choices, role and item price rules, a sales report and a picking list.
